Internal Benchmarking Practice in Malaysia Company

Abstract: This paper presents the practical application of internal benchmarking technique in a semiconductor company. A qualitative study was carried out to understand about the internal benchmarking technique and its implementation process. In today’s competitive market, companies are forced to design and manufacture high quality and marketable products that are required by the customers. As such, one of the techniques used to achieve these goals is to benchmark the current product that is currently available in the market and to make it better. This internal benchmarking process includes cost effectiveness, quality improvement and process optimization. The result of the study shows internal benchmarking implementation enables the company to understand their strengths and weaknesses. It will eventually drive the company to initiate the continuous improvement activities to improve them. In addition, internal benchmarking implementation also contributes many advantages towards lean manufacturing practices and helps to achieve the company’s business goals.
